Starting a New Appointment Booking from the Patient Database

Updated over 2 months ago

Introduction

This guide explains how to start a new appointment booking directly from the patient database. This feature allows you to quickly create a reservation for an existing patient without having to open the calendar view first. This process is particularly useful when looking for an available slot for a specific client, as the system automatically transfers the patient's data to the booking interface.

Main Content

There are two ways to initiate a booking from the patient database interface within the system: from the list view or from the patient's detailed profile. Both methods redirect to the same booking interface with the patient's details pre-filled.

1. Starting a Booking from List View

This is the fastest way to start a booking if the patient's name is known.

  1. Navigate to the Patient Database menu.

  2. Use the search function to find the desired patient in the list.

  3. On the right side of the patient's row, click the green "Book new appointment" icon.

  4. The system redirects you to the appointment booking interface where the selected patient is already active.

2. Starting a Booking from Patient Profile

This method is useful if you want to verify the patient's details or history before booking.

  1. In the Patient Database, click on the patient's name to open their full profile page.

  2. In the top right corner of the profile, click the "Start new reservation" button.

  3. The system redirects you to the booking interface with the patient's data.

Finalizing the Booking

After initiating the process using one of the methods above:

  1. Select the desired examination on the booking interface.

  2. Select the appropriate time slot in the calendar.

  3. Review the details, then click the Save button.

  4. The booking is successfully created and appears on the calendar.

Tips

Tip: Before clicking the save button, always check the patient's contact details (e.g., phone number, email address) to ensure notifications are delivered correctly.

Tip: If starting the booking from the list view, use filters to find the patient faster, especially in a large database.

Summary

  • Bookings can be started directly from the patient list using the green icon.

  • Bookings can also be initiated from the top right corner of the patient profile page.

  • The process automatically selects the patient, eliminating the need to search for them again in the calendar.

  • The saving process is identical to the standard calendar booking procedure.

FAQ

Can I modify patient details during booking?

Yes, although the system pre-fills the data, you can review and, if necessary, modify details in the editor window before finalizing the booking.

What happens after saving the booking?

Clicking the save button records the booking in the system, and it immediately appears in the calendar view at the selected time.

Is there a difference between the two starting methods?

There is no functional difference. Both the list view (green icon) and the profile page method direct the user to the same location, and the result is identical.
