Labsender Module

The Labsender module enables healthcare institutions to manage laboratory testing processes more efficiently.

The system allows institutions to easily enable and price individual Labor items, create Labor test packages, and manage the entire specimen collection and laboratory result workflow directly through the platform.

By using the HL7 communication protocol, the system ensures fast and secure data transfer from Labor service providers, significantly reducing the administrative workload associated with Labor testing.

Administrative Settings

Enabling Labor Items and Setting Prices

Labor items can be configured under:

Labor module → Lab Item prices

Steps

  1. Select the Labor list you wish to use.

  2. Select the Labor items you want to make available in the booking system.

  3. Enter the prices that will be displayed to patients. Use the “Show active items only” filter to make this easier.

  4. Click the “Save” button at the bottom of the screen.

Important: Labor test packages can only be created from Labor items that have previously been enabled.

Recommendation: Create a test called “Custom Specimen Collection” that includes only the specimen collection fee. This allows Labor items to be selected individually when creating or managing a patient’s booking.

Test Settings

Labor tests can be created and configured under:

Tests → Add New Test

Steps

  1. Select “Labor” as the test type.

  2. Select the Labor type by choosing the appropriate Labor service provider.

  3. Select the Labor items to be included in the Labor package. Only items that have previously been enabled can be selected.

Setting a Custom Price

A custom price can be assigned to a Labor package.

When no custom price is entered, the package price will be calculated as the total price of all Labor items included in the package.

Checking In Patients for Labor Tests

Managing Patient Check-In

Patients booked for Labor tests can be checked in under:

Labor module → Labor Arrivals

Patients can also be checked in from the Appointment Booking, Overview Calendar, or Current Bookings interfaces.

Steps

  1. Click the “Check In” button on the relevant booking card.

  2. When selecting the patient, you can create a new patient record or link the check-in to an existing patient record.

  3. The list of Labor items will appear automatically. Additional Labor items and packages can also be added to the booking at this stage.

Printing Labels

The label-printing function creates barcode labels that can be attached to specimen collection tubes.

Click the “Print” button to immediately print the labels using the connected label printer.

Important: Specimen collection can only be started once the patient’s status has been changed to “Arrived.”

Specimen Collection Process

Managing Specimen Collection

Specimen collection can be managed under:

Labor module → Labor Arrivals

The Labor tests booked for the current day are displayed in chronological order.

Steps

  1. Click the relevant appointment, then select “Specimen Collection” on the booking card.

  2. Review the list of Labor items and add further items where necessary.

  3. Print the specimen labels using the label-printing function.

  4. Select the specimen collection location from the rooms created under “Edit Rooms.”

  5. Click “Start Specimen Collection” to begin the process.

Recording the Duration of Specimen Collection

The system automatically measures the duration of the specimen collection process.

The recorded period ends when the “Finish Specimen Collection” button is clicked.

Cancelling the Process

When using the “Cancel” function, the reason for the cancellation must be entered in a text field.

Cancelled processes can be viewed under:

Labor module → Cancelled Requests

Multi-Stage Specimen Collection

When a Labor test requires specimens to be collected at multiple times, the process described above must be completed separately for each collection time.

The Labor request can only be submitted to the Labor service provider after all specimen collections have been completed.
